Sat a.m. Desert Trek

Classmate Don Snyder has graciously volunteered to lead an outing for classmates who would like to experience the fresh air and vistas of their high school home town as well as get caught up with old friends.

This has been a popular activity the past couple of reunions and Don warns he'll be covering much of the same real estate as last reunion (if you are able to remember details from 5 years ago, you are to be commended - most of us are enjoying re-runs without even knowing it).  However - with Halloween just a week away - Don is adding a bit of the eerie - the site of the Smallest Cemetery per Robert L. Ripley's Believe It or Not, circa late 1940's.

The trek will be at the south end of town and won''t involve any significant climbing or long hiking in deference to 63-year-old limbs and joints.  Those interested in joining in should email Don at deltabravo@verizon.net, cc joleigh.s.rafalski@hotmail.com, by Friday, 23 October.  Include a cell phone number in the event the walk must be called off for some reason.

The start/end spot will be at the corner of South Sunland and Javis.  Go south on College Heights (toward Cerro Coso Community College).  Turn left (east) on Javis and continue to where it intersects Sunland.  (There is space for off-road parking.)  The group will start out at 9:00 a.m.  Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, a hat and sun screen - and bring water.

Don is planning about an hour's walk, but has said he'll continue longer for those souls with more stamina!  THANKS FOR STEPPING UP AGAIN, DON, AND GIVING CLASS MATES A CHANCE TO STEP OUT FOR A "WALK-ABOUT"!
